Workout for me! Our favorite classes in Amman

Posted on 07 December 2017

Who has time to go around all the gyms and try out all the classes and find what they like best? If you do, you’re incredibly lucky! But since most of us don’t, we (along with some contributors) tried them so you don’t have to! Here are our favorites in Amman:

1. Aerial Yoga @ Lift

A slower, gentler non-traditional yoga class; using the support of the hammock, our yogis stretch certain ‘asanas’ much more easily making it gentler on the body in comparison to the mat yoga class.

What you liked the most: I love the calmness of Tatyana, the instructor. For the entire 45 minutes, she makes you forget everything else around you and just focus on your body. It’s incredibly relaxing!

How long have you been taking or did you take this class: Once a week for 2 months

Worth how much you pay for it: I would’ve like to attend more classes per month for the price I pay the gym

How’s the atmosphere: Amazing. Lift is like a family

2. Trampoline Workout with Rebecca Odeh

Did you know that Trampoline exercise is about 70% more effective in fitness training than jogging on a track for the same amount of time? Rebecca finds this exercise to be effective in burning calories, and shaping up the body.

What you liked the most: It’s fun; you’re jumping around, burning calories without feeling it . You definitely don’t feel the tediousness of the gym or the passing of time

How long have you been taking or did you take this class: Once

Worth how much you pay for it: Definitely

How’s the atmosphere: Energetic is an understatement

3. Primal Burn @ Lift

Burn calories, stimulate your metabolic rate, and transform your body in this 40-minute music based high intensity interval training (HIIT) workout utilizing battle-ropes, bodyweight, power-bags and med balls.

What you liked the most: This class is tough, but it's a challenge you'd want to take on. You leave the class feeling lighter and definitely powerful

How long have you been taking or did you take this class: Twice a week for a couple of months

Worth how much you pay for it: Yes

How’s the atmosphere: The atmosphere at Lift is always great. It's not your average gym - it's a collective experience, and Mona is an excellent trainer

4. Movement Class @ Taboo Calisthenics Center

6. Body Combat @ Golds Gym

The high-intensity, martial-arts inspired, non-contact workout. Punch, kick and strike your way to fitness.

How long have you been taking or did you take this class: 3 weeks so far

Worth how much you pay for it: It’s a bit more on the expensive side

How’s the atmosphere: Cozy, welcoming and super-friendly
