The SS'18 Trend Report
Posted on 20 March 2018
Spring into the blossomy, sunny season in sparkles, feathers, sheer layers, and fantastic plastics! We’ve searched the internet and runways of Spring/ Summer 2018 only to find you the biggest and hottest looks and trends of the season.
Here are the key trends you should (and will) be wearing in the coming few months.
To start with anything other than the 1980’s trends would be the ultimate fashion crime. From Saint Laurent, Emanuel Ungaro and Halpern to Off-White and Isabel Marant, the eighties silhouettes were all over the runways. Think Princess Diana, with waist-clinching cuts and strong, BIG shoulders.
Sparkle the summer away with this oh-so-glamorous trend! Glitter, sequins and sparkles conquered the fashion runways this season and we couldn’t be happier. From full-on sequined dressed to metallic shimmery tops that glamify any ensemble; a sequined piece is a definite must-have this summer.
Although SS’18 is all about the ‘80s revival, the ‘90s checkered print is here to stay. So don’t hide your FW’17 plaid just yet.
Get spotted this summer in the 1950’s polka pattern. Keep it monochrome and simple with contemporary cuts and you’re summer ready!
The future is here! Valentino, Chanel and Calvin Klein all set the standards for this clear fashion trend. From dresses to boots and trench coats, vinyl is the statement item you need in your summer wardrobe.
There’s nothing new about the form-fitting pencil skirt; however, this time around they got longer and more feminine. Choose sequined skirts as in the runways of Erdem or patterned pencils similar to those on the runways of Hermes and Balenciaga.
Just in time for spring blooms, vintage floral prints dominated the runways; think D&G with their dramatic oversized floral prints. Tea parties never looked so good!
You know what they say; birds of a feather flock together. From Saint Laurent to Maison Margiela, this season, fluttery feathers in any form, shape, pattern or color are staples.
Ice cream hues
We can’t help but think of delicious marshmallows and Italian gelato with this year’s pastel attack. Opt for mixing and matching pastel colors à la Céline.
Go hard or go home is the color palette for this summer. Vibrant reds, purples and most importantly, yellows will surely spice up your wardrobe. Best of all, take a cue from the runways and match bold colors together for ultimate pizzazz.
So what should you take from all this?
Color is key; the ‘80s are here to stay; stick to plaid, polka and plastic; add some vintage floral; and there you go, you’re summer ready!
